Tristan “TB McQueen” Bowersox is a queer artist and designer whose latest abstract work channels personal and political tensions. They have been practicing collage for ten years and design for fifteen, winning awards for book cover design, writing, and art direction.

Their sources for collage material are almost entirely thrifted vintage books and magazines – they prefer the spontaneity this breeds as it allows serendipity and a sense of fate to enter the process. As the works have become increasingly abstract over the years, it has also grown more subtly expressionist.

Clippings cut to dance on the edge of recognizability and challenging compositions that make pointed use of negative space are strategies to access the subconscious and pull hidden emotions to the surface.
