Renee Vinson was raised in Michigan and earned BFA from Michigan State. She has been a life-long painter and member of the art industry and has been represented at Santa Fe Contemporary and many other notable institutions. 

She and her husband ran a gallery in Dallas for ten years and then made the move to New Mexico where they started American Artists Series, an art publishing company in 1995. They were on the leading edge of the archival inkjet printing industry and continue to represent artists today.

In recent years her path as a solo artist has consisted mainly of commissioned works for private clients, medical facilities, hospitality and commercial spaces. Currently residing in Colorado Springs, she is now returning to her love of the gallery and artist community.

She works primarily in pastel, focusing on her love of nature as well as her fascination with the human form and popular culture. Color and light are her inspiration and constantly strives to capture the essence of what we truly see. Her portrait and figure work embodies movement, expression and the human condition. 

When not in the studio, she is also an avid hiker and master gardener, where she derives much inspiration.

Renee’s work reflects a lifetime of practice and dedication to the never-ending pursuit of mastery of her craft. Her return as a solo artist marks a new chapter of not just new and exciting work, but a continuation of decades of passion and commitment to further the creative community.
