Dark Praise: Falling in Love with the Dark
October 26, 2023 at 6:30pm. Doors open at 6:00pm.
True North Art Gallery is proud to present “Dark Praise,” an intimate performance and album release with poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer and guitarist Steve Law
Flirty. Tender. Electric. Raw. This evening of poetry and music spans the spectrum of human emotions at the same time it explores “endarkenment:” all the ways the dark nourishes us, opening us to creativity, passion, intimacy, revelation, dreaming, receptivity, self-discovery and connection. Some growth and beauty is possible only in the dark. It will be a live-version of the newly released album Dark Praise, which features a cover by gallery artist, Marisa S. White.
An optional donation at the door goes to support the artists and gallery.
Limited Seating. Max capacity = 20 guests. All are welcome.
Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer co-hosts Emerging Form (a podcast on creative process), Secret Agents of Change (a surreptitious kindness cabal) and Soul Writer’s Circle. Her poetry has appeared on A Prairie Home Companion, PBS News Hour, O Magazine, American Life in Poetry, on Carnegie Hall stage, and on river rocks she leaves around town. Her collection Hush won the Halcyon Prize. Naked for Tea was a finalist for the Able Muse Book Award. Rosemerry has been writing and sharing a poem a day since 2006. Find her daily poems on her blog, A Hundred Falling Veils or a curated version (with optional prompts) on her daily audio series, The Poetic Path, available on your phone with the Ritual app. She is the author of Exploring Poetry of Presence II: Prompts to deepen your writing practice, and her poetry album, Dark Praise, explores “endarkenment,” available anywhere you listen to music. Her most recent collection is All the Honey.
Steve Law focuses on bringing people together through music. As the founder of Sweet Tooth Sound, he enjoys engineering and producing other artists. His most recent album, Clear Above the Clouds, was released in June, 2023. Other albums include Dancer, Old Oak Tree and Steve Law Band. He regrets quitting cello in 9th grade, and has focused on guitar ever since. He’s never won a songwriting contest, but as a frequent honorable mention, he’s still working
Your Cake Rituals
