Greta Butler
Greta Butler is an artist and bench jeweler with seven years of experience. A Colorado local, Greta was born in Denver and grew up in the ruggedly beautiful Bijou Basin of rural Elbert County. The environment deeply influenced her artistic vision, and the native rocks and minerals she collected inspired a love of gemstones that continues to this day.
Greta earned her BA in Visual Art with a focus on Metalsmithing from MSU Denver. After graduation, she moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to work as a repair jeweler, where she refined her craft and met her husband. Together, they returned to Colorado. Greta's work has been showcased in Georgia and at various local craft fairs.
With experience in both artistic and commercial jewelry, Greta's creations explore the human connection to jewelry. She understands the importance of durability in her pieces and employs various techniques, including the rare plique-à-jour enamel method, to preserve traditional craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from space, forests, and oceans, Greta aims to create pieces that resonate personally with her audience. She believes that adornment is a vital form of self-expression and strives to create wearable art that is unique to and cherished by its owner.
